Smothering: using physics to save the ball (and your body)
Smothering is a necessary technique needed by field hockey goalies to block a one-on-one attack when the field player is looking at the ball and not at the goalie. If you tackle the ball incorrectly, you risk hurting yourself and/or the other player or getting a penalty called on you. That's where The Physics comes into play:
